Job summary

Boral is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join our Port Kembla team. You will manage repairs and maintenance of the Port Kembla Asphalt Plant, working across day and night shifts and travel to other NSW plants as required.

The role emphasizes safety, coordination with Asset and Production teams, and ensuring equipment runs reliably to meet production objectives. You will supervise contractors on site and participate in shutdown programs.

Qualifications

  • Trade-qualified fitter with relevant certification.
  • Experience maintaining fixed-plant equipment in a busy operation.
  • Proven welding and fabrication capability.
  • Experience replacing motors, gearboxes and bearings.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and prioritise tasks.
  • Strong commitment to safety in all duties.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Willingness to work across day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Asset and Production teams to prioritise tasks.
  • Ensure the plant complies with safety standards.
  • Maintain equipment to the highest standards for production needs.
  • Complete programmed maintenance tasks as scheduled.
  • Ensure permits and safety paperwork are in place before work.
  • Supervise contractors and labour on site.
  • Complete daily plant inspections.
  • Monitor plant equipment for defects.
  • Participate in plant shutdown programs.

Due to continued growth across our business, we now have a great opportunity available for an experienced Plant Fitter to join our high performing team in Port Kembla

Your primary responsibility in this role will be to manage and carry out repairs and maintenance of our Port Kembla Asphalt Plant. This role will require you to be available to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends and be available to travel to various Asphalt plants across the NSW region to support operational requirements.

Your day will involve:
  • Working independently, consulting with Asset and Production teams on prioritisation of tasks
  • Ensure that the manufacturing plant complies with relevant safety standards
  • Ensure equipment is maintained to the highest possible standard for operational purposes and to allow the business to meet objectives
  • Complete programmed maintenance tasks
  • Ensure all relevant permits and safety paperwork is in place before commencement of tasks
  • Contractor & labour supervision onsite
  • Complete daily plant inspections
  • Monitoring plant equipment for any defects
  • Available to participate in plant shutdown programs
What are we looking for?
