Job summary

BlueScope in Port Kembla is seeking a Shift Electrician for the Plate Processing team. The role focuses on maintaining electrical systems, fault finding, and safety in a continuous manufacturing environment on a 12-hour 24x5 roster.

Ideal candidates include qualified electricians or 4th-year apprentices with relevant experience in automated equipment, PLCs, drives and instrumentation. A NSW Electrical Licence is essential.

Qualifications

• NSW Electrical Licence required
• Experience with automated equipment, drives, instrumentation, gauges and PLCs
• Experience in fault finding and problem solving
• Ability to work on a 12-hour 24x5 roster

Responsibilities

• Follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
• Fault-find on electrical equipment including PLCs, drives and instrumentation systems
• Perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
• Perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings

The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Shift Electrician in our Plate Processing team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

You will join a cross functional team that ensures equipment operates and is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues is a priority.

This is a shift position working on a 12-hour 24 x 5 roster rotating roster, consisting of rotating day and night shifts, Monday through to Sunday.

This opportunity is open to both experienced Electricians, and 4th year completing apprentices who have experience within a continuous manufacturing environment.

What will you do?

With your proven understanding of industrial electrical systems, in this role you will:

• follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work


• fault-find on electrical equipment including PLCs, drives and instrumentation systems


• perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs


• perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings

• have a strong commitment to safety
