Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in fitting, mechanical engineering or related discipline (completed apprenticeship or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as a fitter in industrial/manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of mechanical principles, precision tools and fitting techniques.
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings/specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving, methodical diagnosis and repair approach.
  • Proficiency with hand/power tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Health and safety awareness in a workshop environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Reliable, punctual, able to work independently or in a team.
  • Physical fitness for manual work; lifting and varied positions.
  • Current driver’s licence is advantageous.
  • Experience with CNC machinery or hydraulics is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install mechanical components, equipment and machinery according to drawings/specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing for optimal performance.
  • Diagnose faults and propose solutions for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Repair and replace faulty or worn components with appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and work instructions accurately.
  • Conduct inspections and testing to verify functionality and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and servicing records.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and workplace procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and equipment optimization.
