Job summary

Charles Sturt University invites applications for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Events and Communications Officer, First Nations. You will coordinate and deliver university events celebrating achievement, fostering connection and strengthening engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities across the university.

You will also support First Nations communications activities, helping share stories and promote events, showcase impact, and collaborate

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, gained through lived experience, community connection and/or professional experience.
• Proven organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and manage competing priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and event management, registration or administrative systems, or the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
• Experience with social media, digital communications, content creation or storytelling, or a willingness to develop these skills.
• A current unrestricted driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver a range of university events for First Nations students, staff, communities and partners.
• Support First Nations communications activities, sharing stories and promoting events.
• Ensure events and communications are culturally respectful and community-informed.
• Travel regularly and work occasional after-hours and weekends.
