Job summary

Skilled Jobs Australia is assisting a Para Hills West SA engineering firm to recruit full-time welders, metal fabricators and pressure welders.

You will study drawings, prepare metal stock, cut and weld, inspect results and finish products, including pressure vessels and pipes. Key requirements: ACQ Certificate III with at least two years’ on‑the‑job experience (or three years’ experience in lieu), good teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• ACQ Certificate III with at least two years of on‑the‑job experience.
• Or at least three years of relevant on‑the‑job experience may substitute the formal qualification.
• Clear understanding of production drawing.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good organizational skills with a “can do” attitude.
• Able to work efficiently on your own or within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, drawings and determine specific job requirements.
• Select and prepare metal stock.
• Mark out metal sections and shape using hand tools.
• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• Use welding techniques to fabricate and repair metal products.
• Examine welds for accuracy and quality.
• Finish welds by cleaning, smoothing and chiseling.
