Job summary

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is seeking a SES Band 2 leader to shape its direction, connect systems and drive major strategic initiatives across policy, programs and service delivery. You will work with Ministers, the Secretary and the Executive to translate complex challenges into coherent strategy and outcomes.

As a First Assistant Secretary, you will lead significant functions, build coalitions across the APS and communities, and foster enterprise-wide capability,

Qualifications

Evidence of executive leadership and delivery in complex environments.
Strong strategic judgement and delivery capability.
Experience influencing across the APS and with external partners.

Responsibilities

Interpret the external environment and identify strategic risks and opportunities for DEWR.
Shape policy and strategic choices for Ministers, the Secretary and Executive.
Create coherence across policy, delivery, regulation, people, resources and technology.
Lead a high-performing leadership cohort to move major strategies into sustained execution.
Build coalitions across the APS and with jurisdictions, industry, unions and communities.
Drive system-level change to support Closing the Gap and Indigenous outcomes.
Lead transformation and innovation while maintaining delivery.
Strengthen leadership depth and capability using data and emerging technology.
Set the tone for enterprise leadership and governance.
