Job summary

Q Compliance is seeking a Fire Technician on a 6-week temporary contract with an immediate start, servicing fire equipment and conducting egress inspections across Melbourne Metro. The role involves field work, reporting defects, and completing documentation daily, with some regional travel and potential for full-time employment thereafter.

Ideal candidates have proven fire technician experience, a strong background in fire protection, a valid driver’s licence, White Card, and own reliable

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a fire technician.
• Strong background in fire protection – servicing, egress and/or passive fire.
• Own reliable vehicle for the term of the contract; car allowance provided.
• Current driver’s licence and Construction Induction (White Card).

Responsibilities

• Fire equipment servicing and testing to AS 1851.
• Build egress inspections—exit doors, paths of travel, exit signage and emergency lighting.
• Passive fire repairs—penetration sealing and fire door/frame rectification.
• Identify and report defects clearly and accurately.
• Complete service records and job documentation on the day.
• Work across a Melbourne Metro portfolio with occasional regional travel.

Job description

This is a 6-week temporary contract role as a Fire Technician with an immediate start. You'll be out in the field conducting fire equipment servicing, egress inspections and passive fire repairs and all things ESM, across a portfolio based mostly around Melbourne Metro, with some regional travel. For the right person, there's a real possibility of this turning into a full-time position at the end of the contract.

Key responsibilities

Fire equipment servicing and testing to AS 1851 (extinguishers, fire blankets, exit and emergency lighting)

Building egress inspections – exit doors, paths of travel, exit signage and emergency lighting

Passive fire repairs – penetration sealing, fire door and frame rectification, fire-rated construction

Identifying and reporting defects clearly and accurately

Completing service records and job documentation on the day

Working across a portfolio based mostly around Melbourne Metro with some regional travel (overnight stays occasionally)

Representing Q Compliance professionally on site with clients, building managers and residents

About you

Proven experience as a fire technician

Strong background in fire protection – equipment servicing, egress and/or passive fire

Your own reliable vehicle for the term of the contract. Car allowance and fuel card provided

Current driver's licence and Construction Induction (White Card)

A solid work ethic and the drive to do the job properly in accordance with Australian Standards

Comfortable working independently and managing your own day

Good communication, able to explain what you found and what you did in plain English
