Job summary

SDR Fire Solutions is seeking an experienced fire services estimator to own the tender process from initial drawing review through submission and handover to project managers. The role covers wet and dry fire systems, requiring independent management of tenders and strong commercial insight.

You will read technical drawings, interpret installation requirements and develop realistic labour and material allowances, with support available to broaden knowledge beyond current specialization.

Job description

Take ownership of estimating at SDR Fire Solutions.

We’re looking for an experienced fire services estimator to manage our tender process from the first drawing review through to submission and handover of successful projects to our project managers.

Our work covers wet and dry fire systems, including hydrants and hose reels. You’ll bring fire services estimating experience and the ability to manage tenders independently. Experience across both wet and dry fire would be valuable; support is available to develop your knowledge in areas outside your existing specialisation.

The role

You’ll take responsibility for:

Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to understand the scope and identify gaps or risks.

Completing detailed takeoffs and building estimates for labour, materials, equipment and subcontracted work.

Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing, checking inclusions and exclusions.

Preparing tender clarifications, assumptions and exclusions, and submitting clear, complete quotations.

Managing tender deadlines, addenda and revisions, and responding to pricing queries.

Working with the leadership team on pricing and commercial decisions.

Handing successful tenders over to the project manager with the scope, estimate, allowances and key risks clearly explained.

About you

You have fire services estimating experience and can independently manage a tender from start to finish. You can read technical drawings, understand installation requirements and build realistic labour and material allowances.

You’re organised, comfortable dealing with suppliers and builders, and willing to ask questions when the documents don’t tell the full story. Experience with Procore Estimating would be useful, but experience with other estimating software is welcome.

What we offer

Salary starting at $110,000 plus superannuation.

A full-time role with flexible working arrangements, including offsite work where agreed, with a Melbourne office base.
