Job summary

AECOM in Australia seeks a Fire Safety Engineer to join our Buildings and Places team across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. You will apply fire engineering expertise on large-scale projects, from concept through construction and occupation, delivering performance-based approaches and insightful technical reports.

Ideal candidates will have strong modelling skills, experience with Building Code of Australia requirements, and excellent communication with clients and authorities.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering projects in Fire Safety within a consulting environment.
• Engineering qualification (preferably in Fire Engineering) with an understanding of the Building Code of Australia.
• Experience in the preparation of Performance Based Design Briefs, Fire Engineering Reports and Fire Engineering Strategies.
• Strong background in computer-based modelling and negotiating with approval authorities on performance-based designs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Applying and developing fire engineering expertise across large-scale projects, from concept and design development through to construction and building occupation.
• Contributing to, developing and/or leading performance-based design briefs, fire engineering assessments and technical reports across a diverse range of building and infrastructure projects.
• Undertaking fire engineering analysis and advisory services, including the application of computational modelling techniques for fluid flow, fire dynamics and evacuation, as appropriate to project requirements and experience.
• Contributing to the successful delivery of projects and client outcomes across a variety of markets, with opportunities to take on increasing levels of technical, project and client responsibility.
• Working collaboratively with senior team members and supporting project management and delivery, while contributing to the development and mentoring of junior team members where appropriate.
