Job summary

Lake St Clair Lodge in Tasmania seeks a qualified Chef to join a hands-on team in a boutique wilderness setting. You will support daily kitchen operations, maintain high food quality across restaurant and café services, and contribute to seasonal menu development.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) or higher qualification.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen (more highly regarded)
• Experience in high-quality restaurant or hotel environments (with fine dining experience)
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, team-oriented, and professional approach

Responsibilities

• Plan menus and contribute to seasonal menu development.
• Estimate food and labour costs and assist with stock control and ordering.
• Prepare and cook food to a high standard across restaurant and café service.
• Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on food preparation procedures.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS regulations.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff where required.
• Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff
