Job summary

Sharp & Carter is recruiting for a Financial Controller on a 12‑15 month fixed‑term contract in NSW, Australia. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll own a broad finance remit across reporting, year‑end, audit, treasury, controls and team leadership, with scope to advance process improvements.

You will lead monthly reporting, oversee year‑end and external audit, manage treasury and banking, strengthen controls, mentor staff and collaborate with the CFO on business initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven Financial Controller experience within a medium‑to‑large organisation.
• Strong financial reporting, month‑end and year‑end capability.
• Experience managing external audit and statutory reporting.
• Treasury and cash flow management experience.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience within services, contracting or project‑based work is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly financial reporting and month‑end processes.
• Coordinate year‑end reporting and external audit.
• Oversee statutory and income tax compliance processes.
• Manage treasury, cash flow forecasting and banking relationships.
• Review and strengthen financial controls and processes.
• Support commercial and credit reviews for new customers.
• Lead, review and mentor a developing accounting team.
• Support finance activities across a national branch network.
• Partner closely with the CFO on broader finance matters.
• Contribute to systems, data and finance transformation.
