Job summary

Pettit Pharma & Device Search Pty Ltd is seeking a commercially astute Financial Controller to join the senior leadership team. The role oversees financial performance, governance and commercial stewardship, contributing to strategy and sustainable growth across the business.

As a leader, you will drive planning, analysis and reporting to support investments, operational performance and risk management, while maintaining strong controls and compliance with regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years corporate finance experience leading a finance function.
• Experience in a complex, sizeable, revenue-led organisation.
• Strong strategic thinking with ability to operate across high-level and detailed execution.
• CPA/CA or equivalent accreditation expected.
• Proficiency with SAP and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Provide high-level financial insight, challenge and guidance to senior leadership.
• Ensure compliant governance, reporting to local, regional and group stakeholders.

• We are looking for a commercially astute Financial Controller to join this senior leadership team of an established organisation.
• This is a broad leadership role with responsibility for the financial performance, governance and commercial stewardship of the business, while also contributing to the development and execution of broader organisational strategy.
• Working closely with senior leaders, this position will provide high-level financial insight, challenge and guidance to support sustainable growth, investment decisions and overall business performance.
• This role will support strategic planning, commercial decision making and business growth and provide meaningful financial analysis and advice to assess opportunities, investments, risks and operational performance.
• Leading the annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes, you will monitor financial performance against agreed targets and provide regular reporting to senior leadership.
• You will work closely with business leaders to maintain strong cost management disciplines and ensure expenditure is aligned with organisational priorities, while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to local, regional and group stakeholders.
• Maintaining strong financial controls, governance frameworks and administrative processes is a part of this role along with overseeing statutory reporting requirements and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting, taxation and regulatory obligations.
• You will manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit process and oversee corporate taxation requirements, including GST, FBT, income tax and other relevant statutory obligations.
• You will provide oversight of treasury, cash flow and broader financial risk management activities and support the development and evaluation of operational plans, capital expenditure proposals and business investment initiatives.

YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING TO BE SUCCESSFUL

• A minimum of 7 years corporate finance experience, including substantial responsibility for leading a finance function within a sizeable, commercially focused organisation.
• Experience operating in a complex business environment with meaningful scale, ideally within an organisation generating significant annual revenue.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline, with CPA, CA or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Strong financial systems capability, with experience using enterprise-level ERP platforms such as SAP and confidence across the Microsoft Office suite.
• Demonstrated success in leading, developing and motivating teams, with the ability to create alignment, accountability and a strong sense of shared purpose.
• The ability to move comfortably between high-level strategic thinking and detailed operational execution with strong commercial instincts and the confidence to contribute beyond the traditional finance remit.
• A collaborative, energetic and self-directed working style, supported by strong relationship-building, communication and influencing skills.
• The maturity and interpersonal capability to work effectively with senior executives, operational leaders and cross-functional teams.
