Job summary

Charterhouse Partnership is partnering with a well-established logistics business to appoint a Financial Controller to lead the finance function and drive commercial and strategic decisions. The role is broad, hands-on and requires a Finance leader comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will own financial operations, ensure strong controls and provide clear insight into performance, risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Proven experience in a senior finance role (Controller/Finance Manager).
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and controls.
• Ability to translate financial information into business insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting function.
• Own the month-end, year-end and financial reporting processes.
• Establish and maintain strong financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Provide senior management with insight into financial performance, risks and opportunities.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process and analyse variances.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital and overall financial position.
• Oversee financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

Salary: $210,000 – $230,000 + super, depending on experience

We are partnering with a well-established and growing logistics business to appoint a Financial Controller to lead the finance function and play a key role in the ongoing growth and development of the business.

This is a broad, hands‑on Financial Controller position that will suit someone who enjoys being close to the numbers while also partnering with senior leadership on commercial and strategic decisions.

Logistics experience is not essential. We are more interested in finding the right person — someone commercially minded, technically strong, confident managing a finance function and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment.

The Role

Reporting to senior leadership, you will take ownership of the financial operations of the business, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting and sound commercial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting function.
• Own the month-end, year-end and financial reporting processes.
• Establish and maintain strong financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Provide senior management with clear insight into financial performance, risks and opportunities.
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including analysis of variances and corrective actions.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and the company's overall financial position.
• Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with relevant accounting and regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and other key financial stakeholders.
• Provide commercial and financial input into business development initiatives, investments and other strategic projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and the overall effectiveness of the finance function.
• Lead, develop and mentor the finance team, creating a high‑performing and collaborative environment.
• Partner closely with operational and senior leadership teams to support business performance and growth.

About You

We are looking for a confident and commercially minded finance professional who can take ownership of a broad Financial Controller remit.

You will ideally bring:

• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance position.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial controls.
• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights.
• Proven experience leading, developing and supporting a finance team.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach and the ability to operate independently.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Experience within logistics, freight, supply chain or a similarly operational environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
