Job summary

The Andersen Partnership is partnering with a high-growth, Private Equity-backed business to appoint a Financial Controller in Brisbane, QLD. You will lead a multi-entity finance function, drive month-end close, and deliver investor and board reporting.

Ideal candidates have 4–5 years in Big 4 audit to Manager level and 5+ years in commercial financial reporting, with strong IFRS/AASB knowledge, ERP experience, and leadership capabilities. Brisbane location, with potential relocation support.

Qualifications

• Approximately 4–5 years Big 4 audit experience, ideally through to Manager level.
• A further 5+ years in a commercial financial reporting environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge across AASB/IFRS, consolidations, leases and taxation.

Responsibilities

• Leading the month-end and year-end close process across a complex, multi-entity group.
• Reviewing and overseeing management accounting and monthly reporting.
• Preparing quarterly investor, Board and PE reporting packs.
• Overseeing statutory reporting, taxation and compliance requirements.
• Providing strong technical accounting expertise across AASB/IFRS, consolidations, leases and taxation.
• Leading the external audit process and managing relationships with external advisors.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
• Driving improvements across finance processes, controls and reporting frameworks.

Job description

We are partnering with a high-growth, Private Equity-backed business that is entering an exciting phase of expansion and is looking to appoint a high-calibre Financial Controller to help build and lead the finance function through its next stage of growth.

The Opportunity

The business has grown by approximately 60–70% since its PE investment and is expected to be 2–3x larger over the next four years, creating a genuine opportunity for a commercially minded Financial Controller to have significant influence on the finance function, systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Leading the month-end and year-end close process across a complex, multi-entity group
• Reviewing and overseeing management accounting and monthly reporting
• Preparing quarterly investor, Board and PE reporting packs
• Overseeing statutory reporting, taxation and compliance requirements
• Providing strong technical accounting expertise across areas including lease accounting, consolidations, tax and AASB/IFRS
• Leading the annual external audit process and managing relationships with external advisors
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
• Driving improvements across finance processes, controls and reporting frameworks
• Supporting ERP implementation and broader finance systems improvements
• Supporting acquisitions, integration activities and other strategic projects
• Overseeing AP/AR and cash management functions
• Managing, developing and growing the finance team

The role currently sits within a finance function of approximately 7 people, reporting into the CFO and leading the broader financial accounting team.

About you

We are looking for a high-functioning Financial Controller who can operate at both a technical and commercial level.

Ideally, you will have:

• Approximately 4–5 years Big 4 audit experience, ideally through to Manager level
• A further 5+ years in a commercial financial reporting environment
• Strong technical accounting knowledge across AASB/IFRS, consolidations, leases and taxation
• Experience working within a multi-entity, high-growth SME/mid-market environment
• Strong month-end, financial reporting and management accounting experience
• Exposure to PE, investor or Board reporting
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
• Experience with ERP systems and finance transformation/implementation
• Strong leadership and team development capability

Property experience would be advantageous, but is not essential. Experience in a PE-backed or debt-funded environment will be highly regarded.
