Job summary

Australiance, the Australian subsidiary of a global industrial group, seeks a standalone Financial Controller in Brisbane. You will own the full finance function on the ground, reporting to the APAC Regional CFO, and play a hands-on role without a predefined playbook.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in financial control, FP&A or audit/industry finance in a standalone/SME environment.
• CPA or CA qualification (Australia) preferred.
• Strong experience preparing financial statements, managing audits, and owning month-end close.
• Comfortable with Xero; ERP transition experience a strong plus.
• Based in Brisbane with travel to Townsville.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements; manage year-end close with external accountants.
• Lead annual budgets, 3-year forecasts, and monthly Group reporting submissions.
• Run variance analysis and provide financial commentary to the MD and Regional CFO.
• Oversee cash flow, banking relationships and working capital.
• Coordinate the upcoming statutory audit and ensure Australian compliance.
• Drive the transition from Xero to a more robust ERP as the business grows.
• Partner with operations on cost control, project financials and business plans.

Location: Brisbane, QLD (hybrid — with fortnightly to monthly travel to Townsville)

We're recruiting on behalf of the Australian subsidiary of a globally listed industrial group operating in 40+ countries, delivering high-value engineering and construction projects with a growing pipeline and an upcoming statutory audit.

The Role

This is a standalone, hands-on finance role. You'll be the most senior finance person on the ground in Australia, reporting directly to the APAC Regional CFO. You own the full finance function — there's no playbook to inherit, you build it yourself.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing monthly and annual financial statements; managing year-end close with external accountants
• Leading annual budgets, 3-year forecasts, and monthly Group reporting submissions
• Running variance analysis and delivering financial commentary to the MD and Regional CFO
• Overseeing cash flow, banking relationships and working capital
• Coordinating the upcoming statutory audit and ensuring Australian compliance
