Job summary

SunRice is seeking a motivated Financial Accountant on a maternity leave contract up to Sept 2027, based in Sydney. You will ensure accurate financial reporting and support month-end processes.

Reporting to the General Accounting team, you will manage balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and continuous process improvements, while partnering with stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
• CPA or CA qualified, or working towards qualification.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
• Strong GL and month-end knowledge.
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
• SAP experience is essential.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive attitude and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and reclassifications.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Analyse financial results and provide variance commentary.
• Support external and internal audit requirements.
• Monitor and maintain fixed asset accounting and project-related records.
• Work closely with stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and finance transformation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
