Job summary

Resimac Group is seeking a Financial Accountant for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Sydney. This is an ideal role for an early-career accountant to build experience in financial services, focusing on month-end, reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements within Financial Control.

You will support journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit deliverables, while collaborating with Finance, Treasury, Operations and Technology to enhance reporting accuracy and controls.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline.
• Currently working towards CA or CPA qualification.
• Corporate accounting experience with day-to-day and month-end activities.
• 1–2 years’ experience in financial services is preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence with financial data.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end processing, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Assist in financial reporting, management reporting packs and schedules.
• Review P&L movements to support accurate reporting.
• Support year-end audit deliverables.
• Assist day-to-day Finance Operations activities and approvals.
• Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Operations and Technology to resolve queries.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve controls.
• Maintain documentation of finance processes.
• Support ad hoc finance projects as required.

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career accountant looking to build their experience within financial services while continuing to develop their technical accounting capability.

Working within Financial Control, you’ll support day-to-day accounting and month-end activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit requirements and process improvements across the Finance function.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for:

• Supporting month-end processing, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and investigating reconciling items
• Supporting the preparation of financial reports, management reporting packs and supporting schedules
• Reviewing and investigating P&L movements to support accurate financial reporting
• Assisting with financial year-end audit deliverables
• Supporting day-to-day Finance Operations activities and approvals
• Working with stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Operations and Technology to resolve finance queries
• Identifying opportunities to streamline manual processes, improve controls and enhance reporting accuracy
• Maintaining accurate documentation of finance processes
• Supporting ad hoc finance projects and other accounting activities as required.

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
• Be currently working towards your CA or CPA qualification
• Corporate accounting experience, with exposure to day-to-day accounting and month-end activities
• Ideally, 1–2 years’ experience within financial services
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement.
• Exposure to lending, banking and Microsoft Dynamics D365 would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
