Job summary

Nearmap, a global technology company in Sydney, is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to own the financial accounting for its global divisions. You will partner with Global Business Partners to ensure accurate data, provide insights, and help steer performance with strong technical accounting and workpapers for compliance.

You will lead month-end close, reconciliations, asset register management, and variance analysis while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Accounting degree with CPA/CA or near completion.
• 2–3 years in accounting, preferably tech/SaaS or Big4/Tier2.
• Strong IFRS 15, multi-currency, intercompany, transfer pricing knowledge.
• Excel proficiency; experience with Netsuite and Concur.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain financial concepts.
• Good time management and problem solving to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close for global divisions with accruals and strict timetable.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations in FloQast and resolve items.
• Maintain consolidated Fixed Asset Register: capitalisation, depreciation and disposals.
• Review divisional P&L and provide variance analysis for monthly sign-off.
• Review global vendor bills, POs, statements, and expense reports for accuracy.
• Review lease agreements and maintain lease schedules per IFRS 16 and reconcile intercompany.
• Review BAS, FBT, PAYG instalments, and payroll tax returns on time.
• Contribute to annual financial reporting and audit; assist budgeting/forecasting with trend analysis.
• Support finance systems projects (Netsuite, FloQast, Concur) and drive improvements.
• Mentor and develop direct reports and junior team members.

Senior Accounting Manager

Nearmap is a global technology company focused on virtual mapping and analytics. We are looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to join our finance team in Sydney.

Job Description

Reporting to our Accounting Manager, you’ll own the financial accounting for Nearmap’s global Technology, Engineering, Product, and GCO divisions. You’ll partner closely with our Global Business Partners to keep financial data accurate, bring meaningful insight and recommendations that help track performance, and keep the business aligned. You’ll bring strong technical accounting knowledge to interpret standards and build the workpapers that keep us fully compliant, and mentor and support junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Own the month‑end close for our global divisions, including accruals, and deliver to a strict month‑end timetable.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations in FloQast and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Maintain the Group’s consolidated Fixed Asset Register, including capitalisation, depreciation and disposals.
• Review divisional P&L results and provide meaningful variance analysis to support monthly sign‑off.
• Review global vendor bills, purchase orders, credit card statements, and expense reports for accuracy and timeliness.
• Review lease agreements and maintain lease schedules in line with IFRS 16 and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Review and lodge BAS, FBT, PAYG instalments, and payroll tax returns accurately and on time.
• Contribute to the annual financial reporting and audit process, and support budgeting and forecasting with trend analysis.
• Play an active role in finance systems projects (Netsuite, FloQast, Concur) and drive process improvements and automation.
• Mentor and support the development of your direct report and other junior team members.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in accounting, business, or commerce, with a CPA or CA qualification (or close to completion).
• 2 – 3 years’ experience in an accounting role, preferably with a Tech / SaaS firm or Big 4 / Tier 2 Accounting firm.
• Technical accounting skills, with knowledge of IFRS 15, multi‑currency accounting, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing, or acquisition accounting viewed favourably.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and experience with mid‑to‑large accounting systems such as Netsuite and Concur.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial and compliance requirements to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Excellent time management and strong problem‑solving skills, with a track record of delivering to deadlines.
