Job summary

Nearmap Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to take ownership of global financial accounting across Technology, Engineering, Product and GCO divisions. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will partner with Global Business Partners to ensure accuracy and compliance, and mentor junior staff.

You will lead month-end close, run reconciliations, manage fixed assets, and provide insightful variance analysis to support monthly sign-off and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Qualified accounting professional with CPA/CA or near completion.
• 5+ years experience in accounting, including supervising/mentoring.
• Strong IFRS, multi-currency, intercompany and transfer pricing knowledge.
• Proficient in Netsuite and Concur and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own global month-end close for technology, engineering, product and GCO divisions.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and clear reconciling items.
• Maintain consolidated fixed asset register including depreciation and disposals.
• Provide variance analysis on divisional P&L and support monthly sign-off.
• Review vendor bills, POs, statements and expense reports for accuracy.
• Ensure IFRS 16 leases reviewed, intercompany reconciliations, and lease schedules.
• Lodge BAS, FBT, PAYG instalments and payroll tax returns accurately.
• Contribute to annual reporting and audit; support budgeting/forecasting with trends.
• Lead finance systems projects (Netsuite, FloQast, Concur) and drive process improvements.

Job Description

Reporting to our Accounting Manager, you’ll own the financial accounting for Nearmap global Technology, Engineering, Product, and GCO divisions. You’ll partner closely with our Global Business Partners to keep financial data accurate, and bring meaningful insight and recommendations that help track performance and keep the business aligned. You’ll bring strong technical accounting knowledge to interpret standards and build the workpapers that keep us fully compliant, and you’ll mentor and support junior team members as they grow.

• Own the month-end close for our global divisions, including accruals, and deliver to a strict month-end timetable.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations in FloQast and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Maintain the Group’s consolidated Fixed Asset Register, including capitalisation, depreciation and disposals.
• Review divisional P&L results and provide meaningful variance analysis to support monthly sign-off.
• Review global vendor bills, purchase orders, credit card statements, and expense reports for accuracy and timeliness.
• Review lease agreements and maintain lease schedules in line with IFRS 16 and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Review and lodge BAS, FBT, PAYG instalments, and payroll tax returns accurately and on time.
• Contribute to the annual financial reporting and audit process, and support budgeting and forecasting with trend analysis.
• Play an active role in finance systems projects (Netsuite, FloQast, Concur) and drive process improvements and automation.
• Mentor and support the development of your direct report and other junior team members.
  

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in accounting, business, or commerce, with a CPA or CA qualification (or close to completion).
• 5+ years’ experience in an accounting role, including supervising or mentoring team members.
• Strong technical accounting skills, with knowledge of IFRS 16 leases, multi-currency accounting, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing, or acquisition accounting viewed favourably.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and experience with mid-to-large accounting systems such as Netsuite and Concur.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial and compliance requirements to non-finance stakeholders.
• Excellent time management and strong problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering to deadlines.
