Job summary

Cube Networks is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Finance & Operations team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. You’ll own month-end reporting, balance sheet integrity and tax obligations across Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the CFO, the role is hands-on, requiring attention to detail, deadline discipline and collaboration with colleagues across the business to convert financial data into actionable insight.

Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CA, CPA or ACCA qualification, or significant progress toward completion.
• 3–5 years’ experience in financial accounting, including month-end close, BAS, FBT and statutory audit.
• Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, GST and payroll obligations.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail, ownership of deadlines and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, revenue and work-in-progress journals.
• Prepare management accounts and financial reports, with clear commentary on results against budget and forecast.
• Prepare and lodge BAS obligations and NZ GST returns where required, and coordinate FBT, PAYG and year-end tax workpapers.
• Coordinate the annual statutory audit, including audit files, schedules and supporting documentation.
• Oversee fixed assets, intercompany reconciliations and foreign currency revaluations.
• Review payroll outputs and reconcile payroll liabilities, superannuation, payroll tax and leave provisions.
• Partner with stakeholders on project costs, revenue, margins, budgeting and forecasting.
• Support customer and supplier controls, including credit checks, rebates and bank detail verification.
• Identify practical improvements to finance processes and reporting.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll take ownership of month-end reporting, balance sheet integrity and key tax and statutory obligations across our Australian and New Zealand operations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting the detail right, meeting deadlines and working with people across the business to turn financial information into useful insight.

What you’ll do

What you’ll bring

• At least 3–5 years’ experience in financial accounting, including month-end close, BAS, FBT and statutory audit.
• Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, GST and payroll obligations.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail, ownership of deadlines and a collaborative approach.

Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, NZ GST, Xero or Autotask will be highly regarded. Experience in IT services or a project-based business is also welcome.
