Job summary

Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a dedicated finance professional to join our Financial Services team in a permanent full-time role. You’ll support day-to-day financial operations, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and reporting to help our community thrive.

Collaborating across the finance function, you’ll contribute to accuracy, timeliness and processes while working in a supportive local government environment that values integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience in finance administration, accounts payable, bookkeeping or similar roles.
• A sound understanding of accounting and finance principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Daily bank reconciliations and financial processing.
• Supporting month-end finance activities.
• Assisting with accounts payable, supplier maintenance and payment runs.
• Processing procurement card transactions and credit notes.
• Supporting GST, FBT and other taxation-related reporting.
• Providing backup support for Accounts Payable and assisting across the wider Finance team as needed.

What you'll be doing

You’ll provide operational finance support across a broad range of activities, including:

• Daily bank reconciliations and financial processing
• Supporting month-end finance activities
• Assisting with accounts payable, supplier maintenance and payment runs
• Processing procurement card transactions and credit notes
• Supporting GST, FBT and other taxation-related reporting
• Providing backup support for Accounts Payable and assisting across the wider Finance team as needed

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who has:

• Experience in finance administration, accounts payable, bookkeeping or similar roles
• A sound understanding of accounting and finance principles
• Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Great communication and customer service skills
• The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team

Salary information: $71,667.44 to $75,515.44 per annum plus superannuation
