Colac Otway Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to step into the role of Coordinator Financial Accounting and make a meaningful contribution to the organisation and community.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, this role provides the opportunity to work closely with a high-performing leadership team and contribute to the delivery of robust financial services across the organisation. You will lead and oversee a range of essential functions, ensuring Council's financial integrity and supporting effective decision-making.

• Policy Development and Implementation
• Assist internal and external auditors

You are a motivated finance professional who thrives on accuracy, integrity, and delivering outcomes that will support both Council and the community. To be successful, you will need

• Demonstrated experience working in a similar finance role
• Experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and preparation of financial statements
• Knowledge of accounting standards
• Demonstrated experience in the use of financial systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to learn, problem solve and contribute to a highly collaborative environment
• Leadership experience would be highly regarded, but if you bring strong technical skills and a people-focused approach, we're open to supporting your leadership growth.

Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline are essential. Previous experience in local government would be highly regarded, but it is not essential.
