Job summary

Brisbane Youth Service is seeking an experienced Finance Senior Manager to lead our finance team and ensure robust financial governance, reporting and compliance for a not-for-profit organisation in Brisbane.

The role requires CPA/CA qualifications, not-for-profit experience, payroll oversight, and strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and the SCHADS Award. Xero and Excel are essential, with a focus on stakeholder reporting.

Qualifications

• CPA or CA qualified with experience in the not-for-profit sector.
• Experience managing grant acquittals and budgeting processes.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, tax, and company legislation.
• Experience managing payroll and SCHADS Award interpretation.
• Advanced skills with accounting software (Xero preferred) and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to lead, manage and grow the finance team.
• Operational risk management and mitigation experience.
• Strong stakeholder relationship and executive/board reporting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the BYS finance team ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Provide governance and financial guidance to Operations Director.
• Oversee budgeting, grant acquittals, and compliance with relevant standards.
• Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and support decision making.
• Prepare executive and Board reports with clear financial insights.

Are you an experienced CPA or CA with a desire to contribute to a thriving not for profit organisation?

The Finance Senior Manager leads the BYS finance team and provides financial support and guidance to the Operations Director. This full-time role supports the organisation through strong financial governance, compliance and reporting.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you:

• Are CPA or CA qualified with experience in the not-for-profit sector.
• Have experience managing grant acquittals and overseeing budgeting processes.
• Can demonstrate strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, tax, and company legislation.
• Have experience managing payroll and a strong understanding of Award interpretation, particularly for the SCHADS Award.
• Demonstrate advanced technology skills using accounting software (Xero preferred) and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Can lead, manage, and grow our fantastic finance team.
• Demonstrate strong operational risk management skills, analysis, and mitigation implementation.
• Can demonstrate the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Possess highly developed communication skills, with experience preparing executive and Board reports.
