Job description

Burnside Support Office, Sunshine Coast | Full-time Permanent
Bring the Numbers Together. Keep Finance Moving. Make Your Work Count.

Behind every well-run organisation is a finance team that keeps the details accurate, the payments moving and the accounts balanced.

Sundale is looking for an organised and detail-focused Finance Officer to join our Finance Team at the Burnside Support Office. This is an opportunity to use your transactional finance experience in a collaborative environment where accuracy, responsive service and continuous improvement are genuinely valued.

With more than 60 years of service across aged care, community care, retirement communities and affordable housing, Sundale is committed to empowering Queenslanders to live their best lives. That commitment extends to creating a supportive and rewarding workplace for our team members.

Why Sundale?

At Sundale, we live by our values:

  • Care: Creating quality and meaningful experiences for everyone in the Sundale community.
  • Connection: Listening and responding to the needs of others.
  • Creativity: Finding better and more innovative ways to do things and be part of our community.

We offer a supportive, people-first workplace where your contribution matters and the work you do behind the scenes helps our broader organisation deliver essential services.

About the Role

Reporting to the Transactional Services Team Lead, the Finance Officer will support Sundale’s accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking functions.

You will help ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, bank accounts are reconciled, enquiries are resolved promptly and appropriate financial controls are maintained. Working closely with colleagues across Sundale, you will provide practical and responsive support to suppliers, customers, team members and management.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys bringing order to the details, resolving discrepancies and keeping financial processes running smoothly.

What You’ll Do
  • Process customer invoices, receipts, payments and account adjustments accurately and efficiently.
  • Allocate incoming payments to the correct customer accounts.
  • Monitor overdue accounts and follow up outstanding payments in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Process and allocate creditor invoices in accordance with Sundale’s approval requirements.
  • Ensure approved invoices are entered against the correct account and cost centre codes.
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and resolved.
  • Maintain and reconcile customer, supplier and general ledger accounts.
  • Complete vendor statement reconciliations and follow up missing invoices, credits and payment discrepancies.
  • Monitor and respond to enquiries received through the accounts payable mailbox.
  • Respond to finance enquiries from suppliers, customers, team members and management.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including filing, archiving and document control.
  • Assist with finance reporting, data entry, month‑end activities and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader Finance Team to meet deadlines and deliver responsive service.
What You’ll Bring

You are someone who notices when the numbers do not quite match and takes the initiative to find out why. You are organised, dependable and comfortable managing detailed work while responding to changing priorities.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in a finance, accounts or administration role.
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable or transactional finance.
  • Experience completing bank and account reconciliations.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • The ability to identify and investigate discrepancies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and follow established financial processes and controls.
  • A proactive, service‑focused approach to supporting internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to organise your workload and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in aged care, community services or a similar environment will be highly regarded but is not essential, as training will be provided.
Required Checks

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Hold or obtain a National Police Check that meets relevant legislative requirements.
  • Complete a pre‑employment medical assessment.
  • Maintain all mandatory training and compliance requirements relevant to the position.
Benefits That Add Up

Sundale values its team members and provides a comprehensive range of benefits, including:

  • Additional 0.5% superannuation above the Superannuation Guarantee.
  • Salary packaging of up to $15,900 tax-free, plus $2,650 for meals and entertainment.
  • Five weeks’ annual leave for full‑time employees.
  • Six weeks’ paid parental leave for eligible full‑time employees, pro‑rated for eligible part‑time employees.
