Job summary

Ocius Technology is seeking a Finance Manager Operations to lead day-to-day financial operations, drive budgeting and forecasting, and provide strategic financial insights for executive decision-making.

You will partner with operational leaders, manage payroll and compliance, and drive improvements in ERP and reporting to support growth and scalable processes. Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain NV1 security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in finance, accounting, commercial finance or operational finance roles.
• Experience in a growing SME, technology, manufacturing, defence, or project-based environment.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting skills.
• Experience partnering with operational managers and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building capability.

Responsibilities

Ocius Technology is an Australian company dedicated to developing and deploying cutting edge Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). Our vessel's harness Wind, Solar and Wave power to remain at sea collecting vital data for Defence and Civilian applications. We are under contracts with RAN, RNZN and USA and are responding in an agile way to an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager Operationswill be responsible for overseeing day-to-day finance operations while providing commercial and financial insights that support decision-making across the entire business.

Atypical day could include:

Lead day-to-day financial operations, including month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.

Prepare accurate and timely management reports and financial analysis for executive leadership.

Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and business outcomes.

Support strategic planning, business case development, and operational decision-making.

Processing of payroll and calculation of payroll related taxes

Manage compliance with accounting standards, tax obligations, audits, and statutory reporting requirements.

Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting capability.

Support the optimisation of ERP and business systems.

Contribute to the development of scalable financial processes to support business growth.

You are an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting capability with commercial acumen and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

You will ideally bring:

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years' experience in finance, accounting, commercial finance, or operational finance roles.
• Experience working in a growing SME, technology, manufacturing, engineering, defence, or project-based environment.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting skills.
• Experience partnering with operational managers and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building capability.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to operate strategically while remaining engaged in the detail.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite is highly desirable.

Due to the nature of our business, we require Australian Citizenship for all roles. In this role you would need the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance (do not require a clearance before commencing).
