Job summary

ThompsonCook is seeking a Finance Manager for a purpose‑driven NFP organisation in Sydney. You will own financial accounting, reporting, FP&A and compliance, reporting directly to the CFO, while building strong finance systems and controls across the business.

The role requires CA/CPA qualifications, a collaborative finance mindset and experience with NFP fundraising. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver insight and improvements to finances and governance.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualified
• Strong technical accounting, financial reporting and reconciliation capabilities
• Experience across month-end, year-end reporting, budgeting and compliance
• Collaborative across finance and non-finance teams
• NFP, charity or fundraising experience will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, fixed assets and supporting schedules
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements and coordinate audit and year-end reporting requirements
• Own key finance systems including Wiise, ProSpend and Raisely, ensuring reporting accuracy and strong controls
• Manage donation income and corporate card processes, including reconciliations and accounting treatment
• Own campaign financial management, including budget preparation, results reconciliation and variance analysis
• Oversee core finance operations including invoicing, bank reconciliations, EFTPOS, and accruals
• Manage PAYG, BAS, IAS and other ATO obligations
• Partner with CFO and stakeholders to drive improvements across finance processes

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a respected NFP organisation with a strong purpose and meaningful impact within the community. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager will take ownership across a broad range of financial accounting, reporting, FP&A, compliance and finance systems responsibilities. This is a hands‑on role suited to an experienced finance professional who enjoys autonomy, problem‑solving and working closely with senior stakeholders.

The Challenge

Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer, your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Leading month-end and year-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, fixed assets and supporting schedules
• Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements and coordinating audit and year-end reporting requirements
• Taking ownership of key finance systems including Wiise, ProSpend and Raisely, ensuring accurate reporting, effective processes and strong financial controls
• Managing donation income and corporate card processes, including reconciliations and appropriate accounting treatment across online and offline transactions
• Owning campaign financial management, including budget preparation, results reconciliation, monitoring actuals and investigating variances with campaign stakeholders
• Overseeing core finance operations including invoicing, bank reconciliations, event EFTPOS and accruals
• Managing financial compliance requirements including PAYG, BAS, IAS and other ATO obligations
• Partnering with the CFO and wider business to provide financial insight, support decision‑making and drive improvements across finance processes and controls
