Job summary

Create Catering Group is a growing, owner-led hospitality business running seven venues across NSW, Queensland and Victoria. I'ts finance function is brought in-house to match; you will own day-to-day finance, month-end, and lead the Accounts Officer across multiple venues.

You'll train venue teams, ensure processes are followed, and work closely with venue managers to keep the numbers right first time. A strong, hands-on approach with travel to venues interstate is expected.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in accounting or finance (CA/CPA desirable but not essential).
  • 5+ years' experience, including multi-site hospitality, retail or food service.
  • Strong Xero skills; experience with Square and Cooking the Books a big plus.
  • Solid understanding of the Hospitality Industry Award and payroll compliance.
  • Confident coaching venue managers and reconciling ledgers.
  • Willing to travel interstate when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Own month-end close and deliver accurate monthly P&Ls by venue and group.
  • Produce a weekly flash report per venue (sales, wage %, COGS %, cash).
  • Oversee payroll for around 150 staff (fortnightly) and ensure Award compliance.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash flow forecasting.
  • Manage multi-state payroll tax obligations.
  • Keep BAS-ready and year-end-ready with external accountant.
  • Drive use of Xero, Square and Cooking the Books across venues.
  • Run monthly stocktake and accruals for accurate COGS and wages.
  • Turn policies into practical checklists for venue teams.
  • Lead and develop the Accounts Officer.

Job description

Reporting directly to the owner, you'll take full ownership of day-to-day finance and month-end, lead the Accounts Officer, and get systems and venue teams working the way they should. You'll work closely with venue managers, getting out into the venues, training teams, and making sure processes are followed so the numbers are right first time. Results based bonus package, paid quarterly.

Key responsibilities
  • Own month-end close and deliver accurate monthly P&Ls by venue and group, by working day 5
  • Produce a weekly flash report per venue (sales, wage %, COGS %, cash)
  • Oversee payroll for around 150 staff (fortnightly) and ensure Hospitality Award compliance

  • Keep the books BAS-ready and year-end-ready, working with external accountant
  • Drive correct use of Xero, Cooking the Books and Square across all venues

  • Turn existing policies into simple, practical checklists venue teams actually use
  • Lead and develop the Accounts Officer
About you
