Job summary

Zenith Hotels in Sydney is seeking a hands-on Accountant to join our finance team and take ownership of day-to-day financial operations across our growing hospitality venues. Working closely with the CFO, you will manage month-end close, reconciliations, AP/AR and payroll, produce monthly reports and support BAS/FBT obligations, with a practical, proactive approach and a keen eye for detail.

This execution-focused role offers exposure to multi-site operations and opportunities to improve finance

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in bookkeeping, accounting or a similar finance role
• Strong understanding of reconciliations, journals and month-end processes
• Experience across AP, AR and general ledger
• Experience with financial reporting and BAS/FBT
• Strong Excel and accounting systems skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal stakeholders
• A proactive, hands-on approach and a strong focus on getting things done
• Hospitality or multi-site experience will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function across the group, including managing bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
• Own the month-end close process and prepare journals, accruals and adjustments
• Prepare monthly financial and management reports, including variance analysis
• Manage AP, AR and payroll reconciliations and follow up outstanding items
• Prepare BAS, FBT and other statutory requirements and support audits
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
• Support venue teams with financial queries and reporting
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes and systems
• Support upcoming Microsoft Business Central implementation

As part of our continued growth, we're looking for a hands-on Accountant to join our finance team and take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations across our growing group of hospitality venues.

About the Role

Working closely with our CFO, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations across our group of hospitality venues.

This is an execution-focused role where you'll be hands-on with the numbers, owning your work from start to finish and ensuring everything is accurate, reconciled and delivered on time.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function across the group, including:

• Managing bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
• Owning the month-end close process and preparing journals, accruals and adjustments
• Preparing monthly financial and management reports, including variance analysis
• Managing AP, AR and payroll reconciliations and following up outstanding items
• Preparing BAS, FBT and other statutory requirements and supporting audits
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
• Supporting venue teams with financial queries and reporting
• Identifying and implementing improvements to finance processes and systems

You'll also support our upcoming Microsoft Business Central implementation.

About You

We're looking for someone who is practical, proactive and genuinely enjoys being hands-on with the numbers. You'll be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of your responsibilities and getting into the detail to resolve issues rather than waiting for someone else to do it.

You'll ideally have:
