Job summary

Starworld Cleaning is recruiting a finance leader to own the entire finance function and partner with senior management to drive profitability, streamline operations, and ensure robust financial governance for a high-volume service business in Victoria.

The role covers monthly management accounts, cash flow management, KPI development, and end-to-end accounting ownership, with clear communication of insights to directors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in accounting/finance or higher; CA/CPA preferable.
• Strong commercial acumen with financial leadership experience.
• Experience with Xero/MYOB or ERP systems and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L, and balance sheet; ensure accuracy.
• Deliver weekly revenue, direct labour costs, and margins insights for management.
• Oversee cash flow forecasts, working capital and debtor collection strategies.
• Lead accounts payable/receivable, supplier negotiations, and client billing.
• Oversee payroll tax and statutory reporting (BAS, IAS, Superannuation, WorkCover).
• Maintain reconciliations and internal controls across the business.
• Coordinate year-end tax activities, audits, and external advisory support.
• Develop KPIs (cost per contract, labor-to-revenue ratios, ROI) to spot trends.

This role is about producing numbers, understanding them, interrogating them, and telling what they are saying about the business. You will own the entire finance function for Starworld Cleaning, working closely with senior management to drive profitability, streamline operations, and ensure robust financial governance. This isn't a traditional corporate CFO role, nor is it simple bookkeeping—it's an opportunity to directly influence business growth in a dynamic, high-volume service industry.

Key responsibilities

• Monthly Management Accounts, P&L, and Balance Sheet Reporting: Prepare accurate end-of-month and end-of-year financial statements.
• Weekly Financial & "Flash" Reporting: Deliver actionable insight into weekly revenue, direct labor costs, and operational margins to management.
• Cash Flow & Debtor Management: Oversee cash flow forecasts, working capital, and active debtor collection strategies tailored for commercial cleaning contracts.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight: Lead transactional operations, supplier negotiations, and client billing functions.
• Payroll Tax & Statutory Reporting: Oversee BAS, IAS, Superannuation, WorkCover, and payroll compliance for a distributed cleaning workforce.
• Reconciliations & Controls: Maintain balance sheet, bank, and key operational reconciliations.
• Annual Financial & Compliance Requirements: Coordinate year-end tax activities, statutory audit requirements, and external accounting advisory support.
• KPI Development: Establish key financial indicators (cost per contract, labor-to-revenue ratios, vehicle/equipment ROI) to spot operational trends early.

About you

• Bachelor of Accounting/Finance or higher; CA/CPA qualification or progress towards it is highly regarded.
• Strong commercial acumen with proven experience as a Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, Management Accountant, or Financial Controller.
• Commercially minded and highly analytical with a strong grasp of financial systems, accounting software (Xero/MYOB/ERP), and reporting tools.
• Hands-on and comfortable taking full ownership of end-to-end accounting processes.
• Confident in communicating financial insights clearly to operational team leaders and directors.
• Proactive, organized, and accountable with a strong attention to detail.
