Job summary

The CareSide is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance function, maintain strong financial controls and support the continued development of our financial systems and processes. Reporting directly to the COO, the role oversees a team of 11 finance professionals across Australian and offshore operations.

The successful candidate will take ownership of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, financial controls and the effective delivery of day‑to‑day finance operations.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified.
• Experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to prepare management and statutory financial reports.
• Experience managing a finance team and overseeing multiple financial functions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex financial issues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational teams and senior management.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process and prepare accurate, timely monthly management reports.
• Prepare quarterly board reporting packs and attend board meetings.
• Coordinate end-of-financial-year reporting, including the preparation of General Purpose Financial Statements.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, financial journals and the integrity of financial information.
• Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful analysis to support management decision-making.
• Prepare quarterly bank covenant reporting and oversee annual insurance renewals.
• Coordinate annual Fringe Benefits Tax reporting and support other statutory reporting requirements.
• Oversee financial reporting and compliance for government-funded home care services.
• Manage monthly CHSP reporting and weekly government funding claims.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, funding, collections and client billing.

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance function, maintain strong financial controls and support the continued development of our financial systems and processes.

About the Role

The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall management of the finance function, combining hands‑on financial management with strategic financial oversight and team leadership.

Reporting directly to the COO, the role oversees a team of 11 finance professionals across Australian and offshore operations.

The successful candidate will take ownership of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, financial controls and the effective delivery of day‑to‑day finance operations.

The role also provides an opportunity to work closely with the CEO and software development team to improve our internally developed operating system and drive efficiencies across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the month‑end close process and prepare accurate, timely monthly management reports.

Prepare quarterly board reporting packs and attend board meetings.

Coordinate end‑of‑financial‑year reporting, including the preparation of General Purpose Financial Statements.

Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, financial journals and the integrity of financial information.

Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful analysis to support management decision‑making.

Prepare quarterly bank covenant reporting and oversee annual insurance renewals.

Government Funding & Regulatory Compliance

Oversee financial reporting and compliance requirements across government‑funded home care services.

Prepare Quarterly Financial Reports (QFR) and Annual Financial and Compliance Reports (ACFR).

Manage monthly Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) reporting.

Oversee the accuracy and integrity of weekly government funding claims.

Support the resolution of complex funding discrepancies and client funding issues.

Coordinate financial components of Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission audits alongside the Quality Manager.

Support the implementation of financial processes required by changes to government funding arrangements.

Finance Operations & Internal Controls

Oversee the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, funding, collections and client billing functions.

Ensure monthly client statements are accurately prepared, reviewed and released by the 10th business day.

Maintain effective financial controls across payments, reconciliations, client funding and financial reporting.

Oversee debtor management and support the resolution of complex outstanding balances.

Provide technical guidance to finance staff on complex supplier reconciliations, funding issues and billing discrepancies.

Ensure finance processes support the operational requirements of the wider business.

Lead and support a finance team of 11 employees across Australian and offshore operations.

Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations and accountability across the finance function.

Provide coaching, technical guidance and support to team members.

Ensure key reporting deadlines and operational deliverables are consistently achieved.

Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency, workflow and collaboration.

Foster a positive, supportive and accountable team environment.

Systems & Process Improvement

Work closely with the CEO and software developer to improve The CareSide's internally developed operating system.

Identify opportunities to streamline and automate financial processes.

Contribute to the design, testing and implementation of system enhancements.

Ensure system improvements maintain appropriate financial controls and data integrity.

Support the implementation of new funding arrangements and associated operational changes.

About You

Essential qualifications and experience

CA or CPA qualified.

Demonstrated experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.

Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience preparing management and statutory financial reports.

Experience managing a finance team and overseeing multiple financial functions.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex financial issues.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational teams and senior management.

Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.

A hands‑on approach, strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Highly desirable

Experience in aged care, home care, disability services or another government‑funded sector.

Knowledge of government funding and financial reporting requirements.

Experience preparing General Purpose Financial Statements.

Experience managing offshore finance teams.

Experience contributing to financial systems development or process automation.
