Job summary

ESS is seeking a full-time, trade-qualified Chef to work at Hail Creek Village, Qld, catering for 800–900 residents. This role reports to the Head Chef and site management, with a 14 days on/7 days off roster and 10-hour shifts.

Flights from Brisbane, accommodation and meals provided. Local candidates are encouraged to apply on a drive-in, drive-out basis. Full-time salary is $98,587 + super.

Qualifications

• Trade Cert III in Commercial Cookery is required.
• Experience in bulk catering/cooking environments is desirable.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work FIFO.
• Good communication and teamwork are essential.
• Understanding of food safety and HACCP practices.

• Support daily kitchen operations across breakfast, crib & dinner service.
• Prepare high-quality meals in a fast-paced, bulk catering environment.
• Assist with supervising kitchen hands and maintaining smooth service flow.

Job description

ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and coal fields. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the world, from oil rigs in the North Sea to gold mines in the Australian Outback.

We are currently looking for a full-time trade qualified Chef to work out at our Hail Creek Village – Suttor Development Road, Hail Creek, Qld, 4742, catering for approximately 800-900 residents. This role reports directly to Head Chef & site management.

Roster is 14 days on, 7 days off working 10 hour days.

Flights ex Brisbane, accommodation and meals included. Local are encouraged to apply on a drive-in, drive-out basis.

Full-time salary is $98,587 + super.

The Position

• Support daily kitchen operations across breakfast, crib & dinner service
• Prepare high-quality meals in a fast paced, bulk catering environment
• Assist with supervising kitchen hands and maintaining smooth service flow
• Maintain food quality, presentation and portion consistency
• Follow food safety, HACCP and OH&S standards always
• Assist with stock control
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and kitchen organisation in line with Compass standards
• Deliver excellent customer service and contribute positively to team culture

The Person

• Trade Cert III in Commercial Cookery
• Reliable, hardworking and confident working in a FIFO environment
• Experience in bulk catering/ cooking environments
• Strong kitchen skills with knowledge of procedures, prep and service operations
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Positive attitude, adaptable and motivated to deliver quality food consistently
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and HACCP practices
