Job summary

Total Generator Solutions Pty Ltd, a Sydney-based family-owned business, is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on diesel and gas generators at client sites across Sydney and regional NSW.

You will work autonomously in the field, carrying out routine service tasks, diagnostics, and reports, with a strong emphasis on safety, workmanship, and on-time delivery. NSW driver license and trade qualification are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent
• Experience with diesel generator maintenance
• Current NSW Driver's License (essential)

Total Generator Solutions Pty Ltd is a Sydney-based, family-owned business specializing in the maintenance, repair, and servicing of diesel and gas generators across commercial, industrial, and critical infrastructure sites. We work with some of Australia's most recognized facility and infrastructure owners, and we pride ourselves on getting the job done right - every time.

The role

We're hiring a full-time, permanent Field Service Technician to carry out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair works on a wide variety of generator sets, including MTU, Deutz, Cummins, Caterpillar, Perkins, and FG Wilson units at client sites across Sydney and regional NSW.

You'll work autonomously in the field, supported by a knowledgeable team and management who back you up. No two days are the same; from routine oil and filter services to fuel system upgrades, you'll have the variety and challenge to keep things interesting.

What you'll be doing

Carrying out planned maintenance services on diesel generators - oil, fuel, and coolant changes, filter replacements, and fluid flushes

Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults, including coolant leaks, head gasket failures, fuel system issues, and water pump replacement

Conducting pre- and post-service test runs (off-load and on-load) to verify correct operation

Completing detailed service reports and maintenance records for each job

Liaising professionally with site representatives, facility managers, and clients on-site

Complying with site-specific safety requirements, including SWMS, LOTO isolation procedures, and PPE standards

Representing Total Generator Solutions with professionalism and pride on every job

What we're looking for

Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (or equivalent diesel/heavy vehicle qualification)

Sound understanding of engine lubrication, cooling, fuel, and electrical systems

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on-site

Current NSW Driver's License (essential) - company vehicle provided

Strong communication skills and a professional approach with clients

Commitment to WHS compliance and safe work practices on all sites

Full Australian work rights required for this position

Desirable (not essential)

Experience with MTU, Deutz, Cummins, Caterpillar, or FG Wilson generator sets

Electrical license or Electrician's certificate (would be a strong advantage)

Forklift license or EWP ticket

What we offer

$80,000 – $100,000 base salary + superannuation (commensurate with experience)
