Job summary

Cummins is seeking a Field Service Technician to service heavy diesel engines and generators in the Wetherill Park area. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and support new Tier 4 HHP engines under Cummins guidance.

A mine-site friendly role with a tool of trade vehicle and relocation assistance offered. Ideal candidates hold a relevant trade qualification, have experience with diesel engines and power generation, and can read electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Plant or Heavy Commercial Vehicle/Heavy Diesel.
• Experience with diesel engines and power generation equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Experience as a Diesel Mechanic in heavy diesel, mining equipment or similar is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on diesel generators, including engine servicing, oil and filter changes, coolant systems, fuel systems and air intake systems.
• Test generators under load using load banks to ensure they operate at the required output.
• Commissioning new generator installations and ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns to restore power for customers.
• Complete fault finding using diagnostic software and electronic service tools.
• Deliver support for our new Tier 4 HHP engines following Cummins training.

We are looking for talented Field Service Diesel Mechanics who have exposure with Generators to join our team in Wetherill Park. Our team specialises in Heavy Vehicle service, repairs and maintenance across high horsepower mining and industrial applications.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Performing preventative maintenance on diesel generators, including engine servicing, oil and filter changes, coolant systems, fuel systems, and air intake systems.

Testing generators under load using load banks to ensure they operate at the required output.

Commissioning new generator installations and ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications.

Responding to emergency breakdowns to restore power for customers.

Completing fault finding using diagnostic software and electronic service tools.

Deliver support for our new Tier 4 HHP engines, the most advanced HHP product on the market following fully Cummins technical training

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Relevant trade qualification (Plant or Heavy Commercial Vehicle/Heavy Diesel)

Experience with diesel engines and power generation equipment.

Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

A valid driver’s license

Experience as a Diesel Mechanic in the service and maintenance of heavy diesel products, mining equipment, engines and similar applications is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive above award hourly rate + mine site allowance paid as a permanent salary

Overtime penalties for all work above standard Monday – Friday 38-hour work week
