Job summary

Whitehaven Coal is seeking a Field Maintenance Superintendent for our Blackwater Mine to drive reliability, efficiency and innovation in operations.

You will lead a field maintenance team of ~70 staff, manage contractors, and oversee hydraulic excavator assets, ensuring peak equipment availability and safe operations. This role demands strong leadership, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Proven experience at Superintendent level in Open Cut Mining, coal preferred.
Hydraulic Excavator experience crucial.
Proven field maintenance leadership to lead high performance outcomes.
Strong knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and asset management.
Proactive mindset with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards; budget management.

Responsibilities

Lead field maintenance team to achieve operational excellence.
Deliver weekly asset management plan to hit maintenance and production targets.
Oversee maintenance of heavy equipment for optimal performance and uptime.
Promote and enforce safety culture aligned with Whitehaven Coal’s values.
Lead technical troubleshooting, identify solutions, and implement best practices.
Collaborate with operations and engineering to optimize productivity.
Develop Supervisors and Employees to build capability.
