Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking an Occupational Hygiene & Hazardous Materials Technician to join our team in Sydney. You will undertake field-based exposure monitoring, hazardous materials sampling and site inspections, with 50–80% of your time spent in the field, laboratory, or technical workshop depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Year 12 completion or equivalent with strong communication and numeracy skills.
• Current unrestricted driver’s license.
• Experience in occupational hygiene, hazardous materials, environmental monitoring, laboratory work, construction or a related field will be highly regarded.
• Relevant vocational or tertiary studies in occupational hygiene, WHS, science, environmental health or related discipline are advantageous.
• A strong safety focus, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Undertake workplace exposure monitoring, hazardous materials sampling and site inspections.
• Prepare, calibrate and operate specialised sampling and monitoring equipment.
• Record field observations and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Support laboratory preparation, sample handling and data management activities.
• Assist with technical reporting, proposal preparation and project delivery.
• Work closely with experienced occupational hygienists, hazardous materials consultants and project managers.
• Contribute to a strong safety culture and deliver work in accordance with quality standards and approved methodologies.
