Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking a Senior Occupational Hygiene and HazMat Consultant to join our Perth-based Earth & Environment team. You’ll work on major client accounts with a hybrid, flexible pattern and travel as required, contributing to landmark projects across the state.

You’ll lead hazardous materials assessments, provide exposure risk management advice, and mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality reports in line with Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a scientific field, environmental management/science, health and safety, or occupational hygiene.
• 5+ years in hazardous materials management and occupational hygiene consulting.
• Experience with hazardous materials surveys, risk assessments, and remediation.
• Strong knowledge of Australian and state regulations, codes of practice, and standards.
• Ability to manage complex projects and deliver high-quality reports.
• Leadership, mentoring and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage hazardous materials assessments from survey through remediation and clearance.
• Provide occupational hygiene advice including exposure assessment and risk management.
• Develop and implement hazardous materials management plans and monitoring programs.
• Ensure compliance with Australian legislation, codes of practice, and standards.
• Prepare high-quality reports, risk assessments, and client communications.
• Mentor and guide consultants and junior staff.
• Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to tender submissions.
• Stay current with industry developments and technology trends.
