Job summary

Webber, a Ferrovial company, is seeking a Field Engineering Intern – Heavy Civil to support project teams on large-scale infrastructure sites in Sydney. You will assist Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents with daily field operations, documentation, and safety practices.

The role provides hands-on exposure to construction management, field engineering, and jobsite operations while you are enrolled in a civil engineering or construction degree.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a civil engineering, construction management, construction science, or related bachelor’s degree.
• Interest in heavy civil construction and field-based project work.
• Ability to communicate professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic understanding of construction math concepts.
• Moderate computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to perform moderate physical activity on active job sites.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support Field Engineers and project personnel with daily field operations, production tracking, and work planning.
• Assist with quantity tracking, material take-offs, and verification of installed work.
• Help interpret construction plans, specifications, and layouts under project staff guidance.
• Participate in surveying activities and learn basic layout and measurement techniques.
• Observe and support jobsite safety practices, including Job Hazard Analysis and safety observations.
• Assist with documentation such as daily reports, field logs, and project records.
• Learn to assess labor, equipment, and material usage for production activities.
• Communicate effectively with field crews and project team members to support work execution.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and other project tools to support field engineering tasks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support Heavy Civil project teams.
