Job summary

Cleanaway, Australia’s leader in sustainable waste management, seeks a scientifically qualified technical leader to oversee two hazardous waste operations sites, translating chemistry into safe, compliant, and commercially sound decisions. This field-based role works across Potassium Street and Krypton Street facilities, engaging chemists, supervisors and frontline teams.

You will be principal technical adviser for waste treatment, lead cross-site collaboration, assess streams and capabilities,

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Applied Science or related field.
• Experience applying chemistry in industrial or environmental settings.
• Knowledge of sampling, QA/QC and lab analysis.

Responsibilities

• Act as principal technical adviser for waste treatment and site decisions.
• Lead integration between laboratory, technical and operations teams.
• Assess waste streams and treatment capability to support safe processing.
• Coach teams on sampling and QA/QC practices.
• Develop procedures and decision pathways for consistency.
• Contribute technical expertise to infrastructure and site development.
