Job summary

Marsden Families Program is seeking a Family Support Practitioner to work with children and families involved with the child protection system, delivering practical and therapeutic support in home and community settings.

The role focuses on strengthening family functioning, safety, and reunification where possible, guided by a strengths-based approach and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Organisational and time-management capabilities.
• Current Queensland Driver Licence.
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Relevant experience in child protection, family intervention or related services.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, practical and therapeutic interventions to children and families with complex needs.
• Support parents to develop parenting capacity, confidence and practical skills.
• Address identified child protection concerns and strengthen safety factors.
• Undertake home and community-based visits flexibly.
• Maintain professional case documentation and contribute to planning and review processes.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to support positive outcomes for families.
