Job summary

CatholicCare Central Queensland – Rockhampton QLD is seeking a compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team. You will provide practical support, case management and services to vulnerable families within the Secondary Family Support program funded by the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services.

You will work with parents to strengthen parenting skills, identify challenges and connect families with services to improve child safety and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Social, Community or Human Services or equivalent experience.
• Experience in case management, client support and professional case note writing.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and conflict-management skills.
• Understanding of issues affecting vulnerable children and families including domestic violence.
• Ability to manage confidential information and maintain client documentation.
• Cultural capability and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
• Confidence using digital systems and reporting requirements.
• Current Queensland C Class driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of families with intake, assessment, support and referrals.
• Strengthen parenting skills, family relationships and children's wellbeing.
• Develop plans that build family capacity, resilience and confidence.
• Identify concerns relating to child safety and family violence.
• Connect families with community services and supports.
• Maintain accurate case notes and program reporting.
• Build relationships with government agencies and service providers.
• Participate in interagency meetings and local networks.
