Job summary

Story Fresh is seeking the lead for the Factory Maintenance team to oversee line setups, repairs and preventative maintenance in our state-of-the-art facility. The role focuses on strong operational leadership across maintenance disciplines.

You will drive preventative maintenance, manage breakdowns, and work with production to optimise performance. Experience with food production is beneficial and occasional out-of-hours work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily maintenance activities in a courteous, team-focused manner.
• Drive preventative maintenance through planning, coordination and a methodical approach.
• Rapid, focused diagnostic and problem solving during breakdowns.
• Oversee inventory control (stocktakes and ordering), approvals, maintenance scheduling using MEX software.
• Undertake required QA verifications and documentation.
• Own the team's performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Handle call-outs for out-of-roster breakdowns as needed.

Story Fresh is a 4th generation seed-to-store farming company supplying much of the east coast of Australia with their favourite salads. We grow and process leafy vegetables with our own nursery, farms and state of the art processing facility. Our team is extremely innovative and focused on producing the best possible product every day of the year.

THE ROLE

We are looking for the lead person for the Factory Maintenance team. The maintenance team is responsible for line setups, repairs and maintenance of the equipment and services in the facility. This involves preventative maintenance, breakdowns, continuous improvement of all processes and new installs. As Supervisor, the role requires strong operational leadership in maintenance situations across a range of disciplines.

MAINTENANCE TEAM'S RESPONSIBILITIES

• Routine maintenance on a very wide range of process machinery and plant
• Rapid response and problem solving for breakdowns
• Working with the production teams to optimise facility performance
• Support for continuous improvement, modifications and installs

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Active lead in daily operational activities in a courteous and team focused manner
• Drive preventative maintenance through strong team co-ordination and organisation, effective forward planning, confident and clear communication and a methodical approach
• Rapid, focused, effective diagnostic and problem solving during breakdowns
• Oversee the full implementation of inventory control (stocktakes and ordering), approval of purchases, repairs undertaken and maintenance scheduling using MEX software
• Undertake required QA verifications and documentation
• Own the team's performance and drive continuous improvement
• Able to do call outs for out-of-roster breakdowns on a rotational or skill specific basis

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Capable trades person, preferably with a trade qualification (mechanical fitter, electrical fitter ideal) or at least 5 years of work experience in a similar role
• Good observational skills
• Team player, motivated, can-do attitude with positive manner
• Quick learner
• Willingness to do occasional out-of-hours work as part of normal factory maintenance to accommodate access constraints
• Understanding of requirements when working in food production
