Job summary

CSIRO's Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong is seeking a Facility Veterinarian to provide veterinary care and welfare oversight for animal-based research within a high-containment setting. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to support study design, disease investigations and biosecurity preparedness.

Applicants should have a veterinary degree and eligibility for registration in Victoria, plus at least two years' veterinary experience.

Qualifications

• A veterinary degree and eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria.
• Minimum of two years’ veterinary experience.
• Demonstrated experience applying veterinary expertise to animal health, clinical care and disease investigation.
• Practical competence in animal handling and procedures across species.
• Knowledge of welfare, ethics and regulatory requirements for animals in scientific work.
• Strong communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical veterinary care and technical expertise for animal-based research.
• Advise research teams on animal health, welfare and husbandry.
• Contribute to study design, ethics applications and project implementation.
• Support preventative health, disease surveillance and emergency veterinary response.
• Develop and deliver training resources for best practices in animal research.
• Collaborate with researchers and facility teams on welfare, biosafety and compliance.
