Job summary

CSIRO's Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong invites applications for a Facility Veterinarian. You will provide clinical veterinary care and welfare oversight for animals used in research within a high-containment environment, supporting disease investigations and biosecurity preparedness.

This role emphasizes collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to maintain rigorous standards.

Qualifications

• A veterinary degree and eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria.
• Demonstrated experience applying veterinary expertise to animal health, clinical care and disease investigation.
• Practical competence in animal handling, husbandry and veterinary procedures (surgery) across multiple species.
• Sound knowledge of animal welfare and regulatory requirements for scientific use of animals.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical veterinary care and technical expertise for animal-based research.
• Advise research teams on animal health, welfare, husbandry and colony management.
• Contribute to study design, animal ethics applications and project implementation.
• Support preventative health, disease surveillance and emergency veterinary response.
• Develop and deliver training resources to build capability in animal-based research.
• Collaborate with researchers and animal facility teams to ensure welfare, regulatory compliance and research outcomes.
