Job summary

Department of Primary Industries (Queensland) is seeking a Maintenance Officer to ensure a safe, efficient research facility. You will operate building management systems, coordinate with contractors, and perform routine maintenance to keep plant, water and electrical systems reliable.

Working with supervisors, you will follow Work Health and Safety legislation and contribute to risk management and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, effective work environment including after-hours and weekend on-call duties.
• Operate building management systems to monitor water, air, and temperature.
• Liaise with contractors on capital projects to deliver on-time, on-budget results.
• Contribute to risk management programs including WHS, fire and waste management.
• Maintain research centre quality assurance and recording systems.
• Perform facility maintenance across plant and equipment, water, infrastructure and land assets to keep them research-ready and safe.
• Work independently and with staff under supervision to support research projects.
• Adhere to Work Health and Safety legislation and the Department Code of Conduct.
• Demonstrate initiative by completing tasks to a high standard.
• Build networks with stakeholders and support continuous improvement.
