Job summary

Diamantina Shire Council is seeking a skilled Maintenance Officer to join the Infrastructure Services team. You will maintain and repair Council buildings, housing, facilities and minor infrastructure, working independently and managing competing priorities while delivering quality workmanship and customer service.

Reporting to the Building Maintenance Supervisor, you will undertake a range of trades tasks, contribute to asset improvement, and ensure safe work practices and records.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate in carpentry, plumbing or electrical, and/or extensive relevant experience in building construction and facilities maintenance.
• Ability to use a range of tools and equipment safely.
• Strong communication, customer service, initiative and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake scheduled and responsive maintenance and repairs to council buildings and facilities.
• Perform general carpentry, plumbing, painting, plastering and minor repair work.
• Inspect buildings and report maintenance issues and assist with refurbishment projects.
• Plan maintenance programs, prioritise work requests and monitor safety records.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and contribute to continuous improvement and safe work practices.
