Job summary

Aveo Group is seeking a Maintenance Officer to ensure homes and shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented across our retirement communities on the Gold Coast. You will perform reactive and preventative maintenance, engage residents, and contribute to a supportive team in a lively village environment.

The role suits someone with trade experience or strong domestic maintenance background, who is proactive, customer‑friendly and prides themselves on quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance or trade‑based roles, with hands‑on tasks.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach; ability to troubleshoot and act.
• Understanding of maintenance cycles and equipment lifespans.
• Clear and resident‑friendly communication about works.

Responsibilities

• Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks (painting, hanging, light replacements).
• Performing small plumbing maintenance (replacing taps and washers).
• Supporting upkeep of external assets (lighting, sprinklers).
• Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community.
• Managing community tools and equipment; ensuring safety and organization.
• Recording maintenance activities and updates.
• Engaging with residents as a friendly, helpful presence.

The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Officer, you will play an important role within the community ensuring homes and shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented. You’ll manage a range of reactive and preventative maintenance tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a trade background or strong domestic maintenance experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.

Your Impact

• Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting, picture hanging and light replacements
• Performing small plumbing maintenance, including replacing taps and washers
• Supporting the upkeep of external assets such as lighting and sprinkler systems
• Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community
• Managing community tools and equipment to ensure they are safe, organised and fit for purpose
• Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates
• Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team
• Please note - this is not a gardening role (we have that covered!)

Whatyou'llbring

• Experience in a general maintenance or trade‑based role, including hands‑on handyperson tasks
• A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and take action
• An understanding of maintenance cycles and the expected lifespan of equipment and village assets
• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a resident‑friendly way
• A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
• A valid driver’s licence (essential)
• Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
