Job summary

Brisbane Scrub Scouts is partnering with a specialist private day hospital just 3km from Brisbane’s CBD to recruit a confident Scrub Scout nurse with ophthalmology expertise. You will join a welcoming, close-knit theatre team and contribute to a varied elective caseload.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years perioperative experience, ophthalmology skills, and a collaborative approach. Flexible condensed full-time or part-time hours support work-life balance and patient care.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years perioperative nursing experience.
• Experience in ophthalmology procedures is highly regarded.
• Collaborative approach within a theatre team.
• Ability to adapt to flexible, condensed full-time or part-time hours.
• Proven patient-centred care in a surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide scrub nurse duties in ophthalmology and pain-management cases.
• Work closely with surgeons and the theatre team to ensure patient safety.
• Participate in day-to-day theatre operations and patient throughput.
• Contribute to a positive, supportive work culture with onsite leadership.

Brisbane Scrub Scouts - Sick of nursing burnout and ready for a change of pace

I’m partnering with a specialist private day hospital just 3km from Brisbane’s CBD, seeking a strong, experienced Scrub Scout to join a welcoming, close-knit theatre team.

Yesterday I met with the DON in person and honestly what a breath of fresh air Hearing about the team the flexibility and the culture they’ve built I found myself asking who wouldn’t want to work here

About the opportunity

• Purpose‑built boutique day hospital with three operating theatres and a dedicated laser suite
• Specialising in ophthalmology and pain management with a varied elective surgical caseload
• Cataract and lens procedures including refractive lens exchange and implantable contact lenses
• Glaucoma surgery including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery MIGS and trabeculectomy
• Vitreoretinal and corneal procedures including corneal transplantation and pterygium surgery
• Oculoplastic procedures including blepharoplasty ptosis repair and other eyelid surgery
• Pain management lists covering targeted injections radiofrequency procedures and spinal cord stimulation
• Work closely with specialist surgeons and an experienced established theatre team

With the current DON stepping back from day to day management and the established 2IC moving into the DON role this vacancy has opened for an experienced nurse to bring their clinical confidence and expertise to the team

Who would this suit

I’d love to hear from confident Scrub Scout nurses with at least 5 years perioperative experience ideally 5–8 years or more who bring strong clinical skills and a collaborative approach

Ophthalmology experience particularly cataracts would be highly regarded
