Job summary

SMEC in Sydney seeks an Experienced Engineering Geologist to join our Geotech & Tunnels team. You will plan and conduct engineering geology projects, deliver analysis and design tasks, and support project outcomes to meet client and organisational expectations.

You will lead projects of varying complexity, mentor junior staff, maintain client relationships, ensure adherence to Australian Standards, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering geology, ideally within an Engineering Consultancy.
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards and specifications.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience preparing technical reports and proposals.
• Ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information clearly.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
• Client-focused mindset with the ability to manage expectations effectively.
• Understanding of organisational capability and ability to leverage internal expertise.

About the Role

We are seeking an Experienced Engineering Geologist to join our Geotech & Tunnels team in Sydney. This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise and project management skills across projects of varying complexity while working within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

As an Experienced Engineering Geologist, you will be responsible for planning and conducting engineering geology projects, delivering analysis and design tasks, and supporting project outcomes to meet client and organisational expectations.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Deliver engineering geology analysis and design tasks in accordance with technical standards and client requirements
• Plan and execute projects of moderate complexity, ensuring quality and timely delivery

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Geology
