Job summary

SMEC, part of the SJ Group, is seeking an Experienced Engineering Geologist to join the Geotech & Tunnels team in Sydney. You will apply your technical expertise and project management skills across varying projects while working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include planning and conducting engineering geology studies, delivering analysis and design tasks, and mentoring junior staff while developing strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering geology, ideally within an Engineering Consultancy.
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards and specifications.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience preparing technical reports and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering geology analysis and design tasks in accordance with technical standards and client requirements
• Plan and execute projects of moderate complexity, ensuring quality and timely delivery
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and contributors to ensure coordination across project deliverables
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and proposals for small to medium-sized projects
• Manage project scope, risks, and competing priorities effectively
• Contribute to the commercial success of projects and the broader team
• Apply sound project management principles to achieve deliverables on time and to the required standard
• Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
