Job description

At IAG, we’re ready for you. We're the largest general insurance group in Australia and New Zealand. Our family of brands turns the IAG purpose of making your world a safer place into action by helping everyday Aussies and New Zealanders, supporting their ambitions and making insurance accessible.

Bring your audit expertise, commercial judgement and leadership to a role with direct exposure to senior executives and Board Audit Committees. As Executive Manager, Group Internal Audit, you’ll lead the annual audit plan for IAG’s international businesses, delivering independent assurance and insights that strengthen risk management and support better business decisions.

You’ll lead and develop a team of internal auditors and work alongside the Group Internal Audit leadership team to shape the function’s AI and data strategy. From identifying common risk themes to improving how data and analytics support audits, you’ll help enhance the quality, effectiveness and business value of internal audit.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical audit expertise with the confidence to constructively challenge senior stakeholders, inspire teams and turn complex findings into practical recommendations. This is a permanent full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney).

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and deliver the annual audit plan for your portfolios, managing resources, scheduling, stakeholder engagement and external co-source partners.
  • Oversee audit conclusions, findings and quality assurance, ensuring audits meet established methodology and professional standards.
  • Prepare quarterly Board Audit Committee reports and, alongside the Executive General Manager, present findings, themes and insights to executive risk and Board committees.
  • Lead Group Internal Audit’s AI and data strategy, collaborating with the leadership team to prioritise use cases and supervising the Data Engineer responsible for the audit data environment and analytics tooling.
  • Identify common risk and control themes, provide commercially informed recommendations and monitor management’s implementation of agreed actions.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of six or seven internal auditors, encouraging innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the broader Group Internal Audit leadership team and Line 2 Group Risk to coordinate audit activity and support the function’s performance, engagement and wellbeing.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience leading internal audit portfolios, with a deep understanding of financial services regulation, risk frameworks and control practices.
  • Strong technical audit expertise and sound judgement in assessing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
  • The credibility and confidence to engage with senior business leaders and Board Audit Committees, supported by excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Commercial insight and the ability to translate complex risks into clear messages and practical recommendations.
  • The ability to lead AI, data and analytics initiatives that enhance audit effectiveness and value.
  • A track record of developing capable teams, driving innovation and sharing knowledge constructively.
  • Strong planning and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining audit quality.

What We Offer

  • Boosted superannuation with 13% as standard.
  • 20 days annual leave + 5 days MyLeave (extra leave for what’s important to you).
  • Up to 50% off personal insurance, including home and motor insurance.
  • Partner discounts on private health insurance, tech & appliances, and many more.
